Abstract

The article deals with the evolution of the «communicative competence» concept in relation to foreign language training of students at technical universities. The presented definitions show a gradual transition from understand- ing this concept solely from the perspective of linguistic and intercultural competences to understanding the impor- tance of the professional component in the structure of this competence.
