Abstract
DNA topoisomerase II is required for chromosome segregation. The enzyme expresses itsbiological activity upon ATP hydrolysis into ADPand inorganic phosphate. Both ATP and dATP areequivalent substrates, but the 8-azidoadenosine5′-triphosphate is a poor substrate comparing toATP for calf thymus DNA topoisomerase II. Thisresult is interesting and can be used for thedesign of new inhibitors or new bettersubstrates and furthermore for biocaptors.
