Abstract

The article substantiates the objective need to confirm the compliance of manufacturers' products with the established requirements and provides a historical review of the latter. A retrospective characteristic of changes in the regulatory framework for conformity assessment in Russian practice is presented, with particular attention paid to the Soviet period, and taking into account world experience. The problematic moments and transitional periods between the stages of conformity assessment development are identified and evaluated. Based on the generalization of the data and conclusions of the study, the author's approach to the differentiation of the evolutionary stages is the development of conformity assessment in Russia is formulated and graphically visualized. Promising directions for further evolution of conformity assessment are identified in the context of aligning Russian, interstate and international practice in this area.
