Abstract

It is noted that high energy charged particle multiplicity data in pp collisions is a poor fit to a single Poisson distributions for p L ⩾ 200 GeV/ c. A good fit is obtained to a double Poisson distribution with constant cross section and constant multiplicity for the lower multiplicity component; the interpretation of this result is discussed.
