A 5.76 MeV alpha-particle group has been observed in Am and Bk sources separated from a CERN W target. The data are interpreted due to the production of long-lived isomeric states in 236Am and 236Bk which decay to 236Pu. The possibility of high spin states as well as of shape isomeric states is raised.
