Abstract

AbstractWe report magnetic field dependence of both in‐plane and out‐of plane thermopower in Ca3Co4O9+δ single crystal. Strong field dependence of both in‐plane and out‐of plane thermopower evinces giant spin entropy contribution to the thermopower in the thermoelectric material. These discovered effects indicate that spin entropy dominates the enhancement of thermopower in misfit‐layered cobalt oxides materials. An obvious suppression of thermopower is stronger by an out‐of‐plane magnetic field than by an in‐plane field.
