Abstract

The magnetic dilution problem has been studied in a series of substances of general formula Fe pZn 1- ptrz 2(NCS) 2 ( p = 1.00-0.60; trz = 1,2,4-triazole) with the aid of low-temperature magnetic-susceptibility measurements. The data can be successfully interpreted on the basis of a two-dimensional antiferromagnetic Ising system. The critical concentration p C of Fe 2+ ions at which T C( p) vanishes is estimated to be about 0.60, in agreement with theory.
