Abstract
A 4p−4h state near 20.8 MeV in 16O, populated by the 12C( 6Li,d) 16O and 12C( 7Li,t) 16O reactions, is found to have a high spin value. It is suggested to be the J π = 8 + member of the first even-parity rotational band.
