Abstract

Abstract The main purpose of this article is sustainability evaluation of Vilnius development by comparing the selected city's neighbourhoods. Firstly, all neighbourhoods of Vilnius are being grouped according to particular features. For a comprehensive comparative analysis the group of ten neighbourhoods has been chosen. They are “Fabijoniskes”, “Justiniskes”, “Karoliniskes”, “Lazdynai”, “Pasilaiciai”, “Pilaite”, “Seskine”, “Verkiai, “Virsuliskes” and “Žirmūnai”. A thorough literature analysis was carried out and the system of twelve indicators has been developed. This system characterises business environment (economic indicators), quality of life (social indicators) and infrastructure (engineering‐technical indicators). Values and weights of indicators were set up by questioning experts and analysing various information sources.
