Abstract

Two types of Thermometrics, Inc. thermistors have been evaluated at cryogenic temperatures by calibrating them against a type T thermocouple. They are both bare bead thermistors types BB25JE350R and BB25JE020M. The resistance of the thermistors was measured using a Hewlett-Packard 3467A Logging Multimeter which uses a constant current method of resistance measurement. Favorable results were obtained for the second type of thermistor down to the boiling point of liquid nitrogen (−196°C) be decreasing the interrogation current of the multimeter. This decrease was necessary to minimize self-heating effects.
