Abstract

The article analyzes the the importance of international tourism on the economies of the world and identifies the losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,which led to a reduction in revenues to the budgets of countries.The regions in which the highest results of the recovery of the tourism industry in terms of the number of arrivals in 2021 compared to 2020 were recorded: It has been established which indicator is recognized for assessing the level of competitiveness and development of the tourism industry in different countries of the world at the international level.The Travel & Tourism competitiveness Index (TTCI), calculated by the World Economic Forum since 2007 and the Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI), calculated in 2021, has been analyzed.TTDI is a decision-making tool for business, government of countries, international organizations and other interested parties on the development of the tourism sector.The TTDI index contains unique information about the strengths of each country and the ways in which its tourism industry develops over the long term. The changes that occurred in the methodology for calculating the TTCI index in 2008, 2015 were investigated. and changes in the method of calculating the new TTDI index.The list of countries that are not included in the rating of the tourism industry development index in 2021 has been determined. For 2015-2021, the composition of the first thirty countries was analyzed by the value of the TTCI and TTDI indices.The place of Ukraine in that tourism assessment has been determined.The Tourism Development Index (TTDI), which consists of five components (sub-indices), 17 main indicators and 112 individual indicators, is analyzed in detail. The detailed features of the main indicators for each of the five sub-indices are given and calculated in the future.
