Abstract

Road foundation is the main structural layer above the foundation, which can be a single-layer subgrade or ready-made subgrade, with delivery, preparation, transportation, distribution, irrigation and compaction of selected natural stone or gravel aggregates. Therefore, for Kapleng Road, East Tombatu Subdistrict, it is necessary to use the sand cone method to assess the compaction of class "A" base aggregate in order to achieve a density level in accordance with predetermined specifications. One of the problems that can cause poor quality is improper compaction. As a result, one of the roads may deteriorate, due to the compaction of aggregates that do not meet the specifications that have been input. Therefore, to test the aggregate density, the sandcone method is used to test the aggregate density. In this case on the foundation layer of class A aggregate. The location of this study is in East Tombatu Subdistrict, Jln Kapleng de it is clear that all points meet the minimum depth requirements of 10-15 cm for sand dune test pits. Implementation of Class A Aggregate Foundation Layer on Road Improvement project of East Tombatu sub-district Jalan Kapleng The desired density level for Class A aggregate layer is at least 100% during field inspection, all of them meet the requirements. In the type A aggregate layer, the moisture content is an optimum of 6.5% with a range of 6.5% - 10.5%, for testing the moisture content of the Class A Aggregate Foundation Layer has met the existing requirements If the water level in the field exceeds the air reserve level or maximum, the material must be dried.
