Abstract

ABSTRACT; The aim of the present study to investigated the status of nitric oxide oxidation products and some antioxidant vitamins in sheep naturally infested with parasites. The present study was carried on 40 sheep naturally infested with parasites and 10 healthy sheep served as control group which had been treated with anti parasitic drugs(two dose in 15 day interval period) and after the second dose parasitology examination were carried out. In the examination of parasitology fecal analysis, Nematodes,Osterotagia,Fasciolia hepatic Trichostrogylus sp,were observed .The mean fecal egg count (FEC) in sheep infected with Trichostrongylide nematode was 5600/g and 3900/g with Eiemira sp .There were no blood parasite were found in blood smear. The concentration of nitric oxide and antioxidant vitamins(C ,E,B-Carotene and retinol) were determined spectrophotometric ally by chemical kits in the serum of sheep under study. The results revealed that nitric oxide significant increase in diseased sheep than control sheep (9.01±5.6ug/ml nitrate,2.62±1.7 nitrite and 4.60±2.32ug/ml nitrate,1.54±1.4 nitrite ug/ml respectively) ,Vitamin E, revealed significant decrease in parasitic sheep (0.61±0.167 ug /ml, 0.79±0.159ug/ml respectively ) also vitamin C reveled significant decrease in parasitic group than control group (0.092±0.042ug/ml ,0.126±0.037ug/ml) while retinol and B-Carotene have no significant change in both group.. It could be concluded that nitric oxide of the infected sheep were higher than healthy control sheep (p
