Abstract

ABSTRACTThe derivation of the Launder–Reece–Rodi (LRR) stress transport model assumes that the rapid pressure–strain correlation is a function of the Reynolds stresses. This model is compared to a model derived from an approximate solution of the equation satisfied by the two-point correlation tensor. The comparison suggests that the assumption of functional dependence used to derive the LRR model lacks fundamental justification.
