Abstract

A self-prepared kit for immunodot blotting assay (IDBA) was designed for simplifing the running of IDBA in the serological test. The test run by the noval kit is called simple IDBA (SIDBA). A comparison on the sensitivity and specificity of SIDBA in the detection of the antibody against Newcastle disease virus (NDV), egg-drop syndrome virus (EDSV) or Mycoplasma ga/lisepticum (MG) with hemagglutination-inhibition test (HI) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in 2 trials was conducted in this experiment. The IDBA gave highly sensitive but moderately specific, the HI test gave highly specific but moderately sensitive, and the ELISA gave highly sensitive but lowly specific in detecting of NDV, EDSV or MG antibody. SIDBA could be run like ELISA with the aid of densitometer or computer program package for quantitation the density of the reaction spot.
