Abstract
The pteromalid wasp Spalangia endius Walker was released for 13 weeks on two eastern Nebraska livestock feedlots for the control of house flies and stable flies. Parasitism of stable flies averaged 7.8 and 8.8% on nonrelease (control) lots and release lots, respectively: parasitism of house flies averaged 12.8 and 18.4% for the control and release lots, respectively. Spalangia cameroni Perkins, S. nigroaenea Curtis, S. nigra Latreille, and Muscidifurax spp. were native to the feedlots. S. endius was also recovered from the control lots in very low numbers. The strains of S. endius used in this study were ineffective in controlling house fly and stable fly populations under the conditions imposed and at the numbers released.
