Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether use of cell phone in a vehicle increases the risk of exposure. In this study, a simplified mobile phone with a dual-frequency inverted-F antenna was generated as a radio frequency excitation and was placed on a vehicle console. The total radiation power and electrical field distribution in the vehicle was analyzed by Method of Moment. One sitting posture realistic human model was considered as a vehicle driver. The hybrid numerical method was used to evaluate the specific absorption rate of the human body. The results indicate that (1) the total radiation power of the antenna was decreased due to the metallic structures of the vehicle frame. (2) The electric field strength and distribution were significantly changed because of the presence of the metallic vehicle frame. (3) The specific absorption rate of the human body was increased while the human using a mobile phone inside the vehicle.
