Abstract

Magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) measurements have been carried out on 2.25Cr-1Mo steel tube to tube sheet weldments at weld, heat affected zone, and base metal regions on both sides of the weldment before and after post-weld heat treatment (PWHT). In the as welded condition, MBN peak height varies significantly at different regions and an inverse linear relationship was observed between MBN peak height and hardness values. After the PWHT, the variation in the MBN peak height at different locations is redilced significantly as is the variation in hardness.
