Abstract
The permeability of a containment wall is a topic of debate during design and construction. This paper presents the design phase laboratory test results for a quality control program developed to verify that a self hardening cementclay-slag slurry wall meets the performance criteria in the contract documents. The full QC program includes laboratory testing to evaluate the time-dependent changes of the slurry; bench-scale falling head piezometer tests to check the ability of the method to yield comparable results; a slurry wall test section to compare to the laboratory and bench scale tests; and finally the field implementation during wall construction.
