Abstract

Production of Biodiesel is the recent technological area of research as the price of fuel increases constantly and also its eco-friendly properties. Increased environmental pollution and its related issues and scarcity of fossil fuel resources lead to the need of alternative sources of fuels such as renewable energy which is environmentally harmless and also meet the pollution standards. One such an alternate is use of vegetable oil. High viscosity and low volatility are the advantages of vegetable oil but these properties creates many practical issues in the prolonged usage of these vegetable oils in compression ignition (C.I) engines. To overcome this issues is the production of Biodiesel using these vegetable oils in order to use in C.I engines, i.e., conversion of vegetable oil in to esters by transesterification process. In this work, evaluation of performance and exhaust emission using Artificial Neural Network (ANN)on C.I Diesel engine fuelled with different proportions of blends of Palm oil Biodiesel (PB) and conventional fuel.
