Abstract

A research study was conducted at the school of organic farming, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana during kharif season of 2019 and 2020. It comprised of seven treatments, replicated thrice in a randomized block design with these treatments T1- Nursery @ 25ml OF/hectacre + puddling @75ml OF/hectare+ 10DAT@ 75ml OF/hectare + 20 DAT@ 50ml OF/hectare, T2 - Recommended dose of fertilizers, T3 -T1 + 100 per cent RDF, T4 - T1+ 50 per cent RDF, T5 - T1+FYM@ 6t ha-1, T6 - Control (No fertilizers), T7 - 50 per cent RDF + double dose of organic fertilizer (puddling @150ml of/hectare+ 10 DAT@ 150ml of/hectare + 20DAT@ 100ml OF/hectare. The experimental results have revealed that the treatments T2 and T3 are statistically are par with each other, approximately 4.13 per cent increase in yield was observed in organic fertilizer treatment during first year. On two years’ average basis, it was found that treatment T3 gave 3.22 per cent higher yield compared to recommended dose of fertilizer with increase in organic carbon and no significant effect on soil properties. There was significant increase in grain yield in T5 treatment when compared to T1 treatment.
