Abstract

The present study deals with the deposition of electroless Ni-B coating on mild steel substrate. The friction behavior under lubricated condition is analyzed on a pin – on – disc type tribo – tester. The applied normal load, sliding speed and sliding time are varied at three different levels. Their effect on coefficient of friction (COF) of the deposits is analyzed. Experiments are carried out following the combinations in Taguchi’s L27 orthogonal array. Finally, an attempt is made to optimize the tribo – testing parameters for minimum COF of the deposits.
