Abstract

In this research, the composite materials were created by a traditional hand layup method with waste marble powder packed banana fibre, epoxy resin, and the study will evaluate several mechanical parameters, such as flexural stress, flexural strain, flexural modulus, and hardness. The waste marble powder weight percentage will be varied from 0 wt% to 20 wt% at 5 wt% interval. The chopped banana fiber weight percentage will be varied from 15 wt% to 35 wt% at 5 wt% interval. The epoxy resin weight percentage will be kept as 65 wt% for all samples. The specimens for flexural and hardness test will be prepared as per ASTM standards. The Universal Testing Machine (UTM) and the Vickers Hardness Testing Machine will be used to determine the maximum flexural strength and flexural modulus at 72.4 MPa and 2.76 GPa, respectively. The results from the above tests will be compared to choose the optimum filler/fiber ratio. The prepared composites will be aimed to use in packing applications.
