Abstract

Objective To discuss the application of intervention mapping plan in improving the elderly patients' self-management ability on the prevention of falls. Methods Totally 258 elderly patients in our hospital from general department were divided into experimental group and control group using the random number table, 129 cases of each group.The patients in the control group received routine nursing procedure, while the patients in the experimental group received intervention mapping plan so as to prevent falls.A self-designed questionnaire was conducted to evaluate the scores of the elderly patients' behaviour for fall prevention before intervention and after discharged for 6 months. Results The scores of the experimental group were higher than that of the control group. Conclusions Intervention mapping plan can improve the elderly patients' self-management ability on the prevention of falls. Key words: Elderly; Fall; Intervention mapping; Self-management
