Abstract

The aim of the present study is to bring in our modest contribution in evaluating the water state in the sources that feed Constantine city. For the purpose of quality determination, analyses based on the measure of some physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters have been realized on samples taken from the three principal drinking water sources: Hamma, Boumerzoug (underground waters) and Hammam Grouz stopping (surface waters). These analyses revealed a good chemical quality of the water but some microbiological degradation. We have then examined the water quality evolution all along the distribution network as well as its evolution throughout the seasons. This allowed us to determine the two principal causes for the observed intermittent contaminations: infiltrations that occur through out the defections existing on the distribution network and quality of the distributed water.
