Evaluation and analysis of proton pump inhibitors in preventing stress ulcer

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical application of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) in preventing stress ulcer at the first people's hospital of Xinxiang.Methods One hundred and forty medical records of inpatients in seven clinical departments which used PPI to prevent stress ulcer from June 2012 to December in 2012 were randomly choosed.These medical records were evaluated according to the guidelines on prevention and treatment of stress ulcer which were recommended by American Society of Health-System pharmacists (ASHP) and Chinese Committee of Medical Journal Editors.Results The rates of rational use of proton pump inhibitors in prevention of stress ulcer in different departments were different,the overall rate of rational use was 75.7％.Conclusions Proton pump inhibitors have played an important role in the prevention of stress ulcer,but there are still some unreasonable usages.We should take effective measures to strengthen the supervision and management,regulate the use of proton pump inhibitors.
