Abstract

The paper describes a Design for Manufacture case study of a food mixer. First, the mixer was analysed with the ‘know your product’ method. Then an alternative product concept was suggested and finally the new solution was compared to the existing product. The evaluation between the concepts was based on the product life phases and its effects such as cost, environmental factors, flexibility, etc. In order to be able to evaluate product concepts it is necessary to make a preliminary and exemplary detailing of the concepts into components.
