Abstract
Aims Patient satisfaction is an important consideration in rehabilitation and the measurement of health-care outcomes. The purpose of this observational study was to determine inpatients' levels of satisfaction with a physiotherapy service at one rehabilitation centre in South Australia. Methods One-hundred-and-six of 122 eligible inpatients completed a purpose-designed survey. Analyses were predominantly descriptive in nature. Findings High degrees of satisfaction with the physiotherapy service were reported, including with the overall standard of the physiotherapy service, the interpersonal skills of the physiotherapy staff and the facility itself. Responses were not significantly influenced by demographic characteristics. Conclusion These findings promote confidence that a high standard of physiotherapy is provided to inpatients at the rehabilitation centre studied. The survey was relatively straightforward to conduct in practice and has, importantly, identified areas where the service can be improved.
