Abstract

In the present study there are exposed the results obtained of the statistical evaluation applied to physical and chemical parameters associated with the quality of the water in the principal bays of the coastal Colombian Pacific Ocean. The analysis of principal components realized to the behavior special and temporary of these parameters in Buenaventura’s bays, Tumaco and Malaga allowed to identify correlations between the sources, the continental ecosystems and the characteristics physical and chemical of the waters; highlighting that the ecosystems estuarine and mangrove forests distributed in the surroundings of Tumaco’s bay and in the internal sector of the bay of Malaga they are an important source of organic materials; in Buenaventura’s bay one of the principal sources of materials aloctones constitutes the generated by population seated in the Island Cascajal in where the variability of the composition is principally determined by the contributions of nutrients and organic materials; whereas in the bay of Malaga the dynamical discharge united to an ecosystem with limited intervention antrophic does not allow to mark effects in the quality of the water
