Abstract
In April 2000, Europump launched a quarterly order intake survey among member companies as a tool for predicting and monitoring market trends. This survey collected information on the value of orders according to end-use industry segments (see World Pumps, December 2000), and currently monitors orders worth more than €2 billion per year. Now, in response to the wishes of its members, Europump is initiating a second quarterly survey, which will collect order information by product types. George Robson, chairman of the Europump Statistics Working Group, describes the structure of the new survey and the details of its operation, the measures that have been taken to guarantee the security and confidentiality of the data, and the benefits to be gained from participation.
