Abstract
In this issue's special focus, World Pumps takes a look at the pump manufacturing industry in Russia. Although the sector has experienced some changes of fortune in recent years, it is now reported to be growing steadily at 8–9% per year. Vladimir Karakhanyan , President of the Russian Pump Manufacturers Association (RPMA), and member of Europump's executive council, provides an overview of Russia's pump manufacturing capabilities and market trends since 1991. This is followed by introductions to several typical Russian pump manufacturers: a young company that is one of the most successful on the Russian market, especially in the area of international integration; one of the biggest traditional leaders; and a small, young company that produces unique and knowledge-intensive products. Finally, we examine achievements in the development of new types of pump for power engineering.
