Abstract
Abstract ’Stoddon Select’ variety sweet bell peppers were transplanted on May 24 at the University of Wisconsin Experimental Farm, Hancock, Wisconsin. Plots consisted of 10 plants per row at 18 inches in the row, 4 rows per plot and 4 replicates per treatment. Row spacing was 36 inches. The 2 center rows of each plot were sprayed using a tractor-mounted Myers Sprayer with a 6-ft boom delivering 33 gal spray/acre. Sprays were applied on July 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9, and 16. European corn borer egg masses (approximately 50 eggs/mass) were pinned one on each plant on July 29. The soil type was Plainfield loamy sand (sand 89%, silt 4%, clay 7%), the pH 6.2 and O.M. 13 tons. The crops received 20.74 inches of ranfall and irrigation between transplanting and harvest on August 30.
