Abstract
The evolution of ESDI involves NATO, the EU and WEU. Here Brigadier Messervy‐Whiting focuses on the WEU and, in particular, on the military aspects of its continuing operational development. He uses the six functional fields of communications, coordination, intelligence, logistics, operations and plans as the framework to demonstrate some of the progress made, in the context of ‘B3’ — the Birmingham (WEU), Berlin and Brussels (NATO) Ministerial Meetings last year.
