Abstract
Objective To study the etiology of pneumonia in immunocompromised host (ICH). Methods The data of patients with pneumonia in ICH from Jannury 2002 to December 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into three groups based on the underling diseases: posttransplantation group, hematologic malignancies and solid tumor group, and rheumatological disease group. The clinical data and etiology were analyzed. Results 221 ICH patients [123 male (55.66%), (52.22±15.96) years old] were included. Hospital stays were 26.5 days (median). The hospital mortality of the ICH pneumonia was 25.34%. Etiologic diagnosis was achieved in 46.15% (102/221) patients. Conclusions In this study, the most frequent etiologies were mixed etiology (bacteria and fungi) ,bacterial pneumonia,pneumocystis pneumonia,fungal pneumonia.
