Particular attention is paid to the role of phraseology in the process of categorization and conceptualization. The modern world is characterized by the desire of nations to define their faces, to learn more about the national spirit, mentality, culture, language. The reflection of the surrounding reality with the help of the ethnolanguage consciousness is not of a mirror character, but a creative one. The spiritual being of homo sapiens is realized within the triangle "consciousness - culture - language". The cohesion of the language is not only the best, but also the true and the only marker which allows to recognize the certain community. Knowledge of all the features and connotative properties of moral, legal, ethical, aesthetic and other norms of the particular society is one of the most important conditions for the implementation of speech activities and the success of speech operations. Moral and etiquette norms of behavior are the basis of national self-consciousness. Phraseologisms are a mirror image of ethnocultural norms of nation’s activities. Phraseology reflects all the diversity of the historical existence of the people, their lives, orders, customs, morals, strength of spirit, pain and anger. It should be noted that phraseological units contain relicts of various (family, calendar) ancient rites, and together with other stable linguistic units, reflect the element of folk spiritual culture (ethnophrases), form a sacred folk phraseology. Ethnolinguistic study of folk phraseology should be conducted comprehensively, based on broad historical and cultural receptions, through the use of materials of ethnography, mythmaking, religion, folklore in their verbal and semantic expression. Phraseologisms are a universal data bank that contains information about the surrounding reality of a particular ethnic chronotope, about the peculiarities of the emergence of this reality images’ in the minds of contemporaries that became the basis of phraseological nomination. The figurative basis of phraseology reflects the peculiar features of the people's worldview, which are the part of the concept "mentality". The study of the ethnophrases’ connections with the context of their origin inevitably brings the search vector to the level of folk discourse, which is represented in the verbal codes of archaic folk rites and festivities, traditional customs that embody a stable paradigm of ethnic worldview.
