Abstract
Tengger tribe is a community whose people have maintained their original knowledge from generation to generation. This original knowledge includes the use of plants as traditional medicine. The Tengger tribe lives around the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BTSN), including Ranu Pani village, Lumajang District, Indonesia. This research was conducted with semi-structured interviews and open-ended question types using a questionnaire. The first sampling technique was done by purposive sampling, followed by the snowball sampling technique. The data collected were analyzed, including the species use-value (SUV), informant consensus factor (ICF), and the relative frequency of citation calculated based on fidelity level (FL). The authors have made an inventory of 48 plant species used to treat eight categories of disease. The plant species with the highest SUV was Foeniculum vulgare Mill. (0.94), whereas the F. vulgare (90%) for cough had the highest FL percentage. The leaves were recognized as the most utilized plant part, and decoction was the predominant therapeutic readiness method. Use of medicinal plants mostly by oral consumption. Tengger tribe community still knows medicinal plants. It is hoped that the inventory of medicinal plant knowledge in this research will provide several benefits, including education for conservation of medicinal plants, the literature on finding new drugs from plants, and maintaining the continuity of traditional knowledge.
