Abstract
There has been an increased interest in the gerontological literature concerning the effects that ethnicity has in the lives of older persons. While sharing a common history and holding many similar beliefs and values, members of the Jewish community are characterized by considerable diversity and heterogeneity. The diversity of the Jewish aged can be better understood when ethnic group affiliations, ethnic identity, and ethnic practices are considered along with other factors. A better understanding of diversity among Jewish aged will aid the Jewish community in the identification of service needs as well as the planning and delivery of health and human services.
