Abstract

This article attempts to summarize developments in the theory, research, and practice of ethics in educational leadership. The article considers the context within several countries where explicit attention to ethics in educational leadership is being addressed, followed by a section on the theoretical developments in general and applied ethics in educational leadership. It continues with a summary of significant empirical research being conducted in various countries, concluding with the recent call for international collaboration in establishing a more focused scholarly legitimacy, based on rigorous research, for placing ethics as a core component of educational leadership.
