Abstract

Laboratory animals have played an indispensable role in advancing human knowledge and serve as essential subjects for generating reliable and precise outcomes in life science research. However, the ethical quandaries associated with animal testing, including issues related to their treatment and welfare, demand careful consideration. Similar to numerous developed nations, China has dedicated significant efforts to the protection of laboratory animals. This paper primarily examines China's legislative modifications concerning animal experiments within the cosmetic industry, conducts an ethical analysis of these legislative changes, and applies the 3Rs (Replace, Reduce, Refine) framework to propose practical recommendations for improving China's approach in this context.
