Abstract

Mind and concept maps are a flexible and non-linear form of learning used to systematize and characterize knowledge. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, as Brazilian Higher Education Institutions they needed to reframe their way of teaching. For this, it was found useful to introduce the construction of mind maps in groups and online. Objective: This research aims to reach the search for the use of mental map and conceptual map in the perception of medicalstudents in the module of Special Remote Learning Regime of a private Higher Education Institution in the city of Palmas - TO during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methods: To this end, the study methodology consists of an exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional cohort research with a quantitative approach of continuous data obtained by applying a questionnaire by the SurveyMonkey® platform to students regularly enrolled among the 3rd and 5th periods of the 2020/1 medical course. Results: Based on the obtained results, advantages are based, such as the organization of the discussion of problem-hypotheses and ease of reviewing the subsequent content, as well as the sedimentation of knowledge. On the other hand, the difficulties in how to make an effective mental and/or conceptual map due to the lack of training of students were illustrated, in addition to the lack of technological support and internet accessibility equal to academics. Conclusion: A research demonstrates that the use of mental and/or conceptual maps in the discipline was not fully effective. Therefore, the results revealed oppositions to bibliographical references that only present benefits for the most part, however the analysis of the data from this research can contribute with consistent data to carry out improvements in the methodology and expansion of this study instrument by other Universities of Medicine.
