Abstract

The article presents the mathematical competence of primary education applicants as one of the key competence. The state of the analyzed issue is outlined in the framework of the current modernization of primary education. Intellectual maps are viewed as one of the promising ways of forming mathematical competence of primary school students. The investigated problem is analyzed, the essence of concept “intellect-map” (mental map, map of mind, load map, map of knowledge, mind map, associative map) is found out. Attention is accented on theoretical positions of scientific works of the British psychologist Tony Buzan, who made a significant contribution to the advancement of the technology of use of mind map in education. It is marked that mental maps are an effective instrument that provides structuring and maintenance of information in student’s memory for further effective application. The basic practical aspects of creation of intellectual maps are expounded, that it is presented in the book of Tony Buzan “Mind Map Mastery: The Complete Guide to Learning and Using the Most Powerful Thinking Tool in the Universe”. Three basic characteristics of map of knowledge are highlighted. Seven basic steps of development of intellectual map are described based on rules of their construction. The row of cloudy services is presented for creation of mental maps. The templates of intellectual maps are given, created in a visual environment Ayoa (before iMindMap). The article proposes the algorithm for introduction mind map into the educational process of initial school that contains three stages: acceptance, application, adaptation. The features of producting and use of mental maps in the math lessons are described for clear structuring and systematization of geometrical material. The examples of use of intellectual map are considered during the study of topics the “Geometrical figures” in a 1 grade, “Polygonal. Perimeter of polygonal” in 2 grade and “Types of triangles” in 4 grade. Methodology of work with these maps on the different stages of math lesson in primary school is offered.
