Abstract
Dengue is an arbovirus prevalent worldwide, being a seasonal systemic disease, of acute, infectious and febrile nature, transmitted to humans by infected females of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Thus, this study aims to describe the epidemiological profile of reported cases of dengue in the municipality of Luís Eduardo Magalhães-BA, from 2015 to 2023. A retrospective, analytical study with a quantitative and epidemiological approach was carried out, using data provided by the Information System for Injuries and Notifications (SINAN/DATASUS) and Epidemiological Surveillance of Luís Eduardo Magalhães (LEM). This research complied with the standards established by the National Health Council through Resolution No. 466/12 of December 12, 2012. It was found that a total of 5,408 cases were reported in the period from 2015 to 2023. The year 2021 was the one with the highest number of reported cases (n = 1895), followed by the year 2019 (n = 1,332) and 2022 (n = 1,316. It was found that the female sex was the most affected, with 2,960 cases, against 2,434 cases of males. The most prevalent age was 20 to 39 years, with 2,331 cases, followed by the age group from 40 to 59 years, with 1,026 cases. Regarding the confirmation criterion, 2,275 cases were laboratory, 1,008 were clinical-epidemiological and 1,158 cases were reported as under investigation. Given the results presented, it was possible to verify that dengue acts in an oscillatory manner in the municipality of Luiz Eduardo Magalhães-BA, with the years 2019, 2021 and 2022 being those that presented the highest number of cases, with females being the most affected by dengue
