Abstract

The article studies the evidence of validity based in the internal structure and internal consistency about the punctuations of the Herth Hope Index in a sample of 875 habitants from Arequipa City. The sample was conformed by 416 males and 459 females who are settled in eleven districts at Arequipa City, selected by the clusters sample technique. The abbreviated form of the Herth Hope Scale was used, which has 12 items and was applied previously to university students from Lima. The results indicate that punctuations of the scale are reliable, considering also, the evidence of its validity based in the internal structure that points toward the unidimensionality of the instrument with the effect of the reverse items.
