Abstract

Total protein concentration and uterine arginase activity were determined in the uteri of adult female rats injected with 2 mcg of estradiol-17beta (8) and 8 mcg estradiol-17beta (8). Uterine weight total protein and arginase activity per mg protein were found to be increased by both dosages of estradiol particularly the 2 mcg dose. Arginase activity increased 31% as a result of the 2 mcg dose. From this preliminary data it is tentatively concluded that estrogens participate in the regulation of arginase activity which is related to total uterine protein content.
