Abstract

ABSTRACT This study reports the characteristics of atmosphere corrosivity parameters on the sea coasts of Russia, namely, on the Arctic and Pacific Oceans and the Black Sea. It gives the results of predictions of long-term corrosion losses for standard metals on the sea coasts of Russia. Experimental data on the first-year corrosion losses found in 19 representative locations on the sea coasts were used for long-term predictions. Long-term corrosion losses of metals were calculated using a power-linear function. Two variants were used to estimate the values contained in the model: the n coefficient characterising the protective properties of corrosion products, and the time of stabilisation of the corrosion process (τstab). Ranges of possible long-term corrosion losses on the sea coasts of Russia are given for the two variants of predictions. An analysis of the results thus obtained is also given.
