Abstract

The enhancement of Raman scattering by a monolayer on silver and gold spheres calculated by an electrodynamic theory which includes reradiation is compared with the surface-averaged electromagnetic intensity factors. The two sets of results agree sufficiently well, considering the uncertainties in presently measured systems, so that application of the latter method to nonspherical particles is justified.
