Abstract

This paper presents a new algorithm to estimate the quasi-renewal process (or geometric process) parameters for the Weibull distribution. This algorithm is based on an iterative approach combined with the maximum likelihood method. The latter is used to obtain a joint estimate of the Weibull distribution parameters and the effectiveness factor characterizing the imperfection of maintenance actions. An implementation of the proposed algorithm is carried out using data generated by simulation and real data. To illustrate the effectiveness of this algorithm, we present a comparison study opposite to a nonparametric estimation obtained by the modified moment method.
