Abstract
Using a simple analysis technique applied to photomicrographic data, the size and profile of highly diffuse dye cloud structures in a colour negative photographic material have been determined. The size and profile of individual clouds were also calculated from modulation transfer function (MTF) and noise power spectrum (NPS) measurements. In the case of NPS, modifications to an existing theory had to be made in order to allow for the kinds of cloud structure encountered with extreme levels of dye diffusion. The results obtained from MTF, NPS and photomicrographic data were found to correlate reasonably well.
