Abstract

Securing supply chains have been thought as a critical issue for international supply chain management in recent years following the quality management. However, the supply chain security presently still focuses on a set of many individual measures rather than on a holistic approach. Therefore, to promote security capability effectively and systematically, an integrated framework must be established as guidance. This research would first make a comprehensive literature review, including both major international security regulations proposed by different organisations and academic literatures relevant to supply chain security management. Second, different organisations from different members across a supply chain are chosen for interviews to identify practices related to enhance security performance. Third, we summarise these findings and present the framework of security capability development (SCD). The analytic hierarchy process method is adopted to represent the hierarchical structure of SCD and the weights for dimensions, criteria, and alternatives are calculated.
