Abstract

An essential oil isolated from the aerial parts of Satureja kitaibelii Wierzb. f. aristata (Vand.) Hayek was obtained with a yield of 0.2%. The plants were collected on Mount Rtanj in eastern Serbia. Thirty-three constituents were identified in the oil by GC and GC/MS, the main ones being β-cymene (33.6%), carvacrol (14.1%), limonene (8.4%) and cis-sabinene hydrate (5-5%).
